James leads the Decentralized Energy team at BloombergNEF, providing analysis on how distributed energy is impacting the power system. James has written extensively about topics such as demand response and virtual power plants, distributed energy integration, and utility strategies behind-the-meter. He advises technology vendors, utilities, investors and policymakers across these, and related, areas. James regularly speaks at industry events, is quoted in the media, and appears on Bloomberg TV. He joined BloombergNEF in London in 2013 and moved to New York in 2016.

James holds an MSc in Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London and an MSci in Physics & Philosophy from Bristol University.
